The Nevada Board of Regents governs the Nevada System of Higher Education, which includes state universities, community colleges, and research institutions. Regents establish policies for higher education, oversee institutional leadership, set tuition and fee structures, and help shape long-term planning for workforce development and academic programs. Because higher education plays a critical role in economic opportunity, civic engagement, and statewide innovation, these races influence how Nevada supports students, protects institutional independence, and ensures responsible stewardship of public higher education resources.Note: This is a nonpartisan race. The designation only applies to the race, and does not reflect the political affiliations of the candidates.
It will help develop new technologies while helping students understand new and upcoming technological break throughs for future advancement in Higher Education
With the advancement of technology, especially computer technology, it is extremely important that graduates in Nevada are prepared for upcoming job opportunities
The Board needs to work more with local businesses to fund programs at the different institutions and work with the legislature to loosen it's purse strings to assist Higher Education
Affirmative Action is already in place to take care of prejudices and unfairness
I believe in forgiveness programs for citizens unable to repay

I feel that artificial intelligence can be a great tool for students and faculty to use in higher education. Artificial intelligence will allow stakeholders to become more efficient with their time and provide a greater work/education life balance. However, it is extremely important that students and faculty are trained properly in the use of AI. I feel that it is too easy for individuals to become reliant on AI to complete their tasks. If elected, I would look at ways that AI can be utilized in a manner that still forces students to think critically and put forth their own original work. There are already measures in place that check for AI use in submitted assignments. However, I feel that it's still easy to rely on AI to complete tasks.
I think that AI could reduce the number of jobs available to all individuals, not just recent college graduates. This reinforces my belief that AI needs to be used as a tool. Employers and higher ed institutions alike need to retain the human element in AI implementation. I believe it is the Board of Regents' responsibility to ensure safe guards are put in place. Procedures that help to improve every individual's life with the inevitable introduction of AI systems in every professional setting across the world.
The Board of Regents needs to ensure that research funding is maintained equally across all three of it's research institutions. The board needs to set an overarching goal for funding and constantly review it's budget to maintain funding across these institutions. Regents must also listen to institutional leadership, students and faculty, and make a decision that aligns with this overarching goal.
I feel the role of any elected official is to listen to the constituents who put you in that position. This means listening to the voices of all constituents, those in favor of DEI and those who oppose it. However, I personally believe that DEI is paramount to ensuring that every individual has a fair chance of being selected. Diversity, equity, and inclusion is a mechanism that breaks down barriers for individuals who may be burdened by the preconceived bias of others. This mechanism creates a transparent lens that allows for individuals to be selected based on their abilities and nothing else. It also allows for individuals to feel welcomed to an environment once they are selected.
I currently work for the Clark County government and have been employed there for three and a half years. In my time in this position I have come to respect the effort put forth by individuals who are also employed in public service. Most of the time employees face insurmountable workloads, disgruntled customers, and the negative perceptions of public service work. In the midst of all of this, individuals still find a way to persevere through this difficulty to provide a service to the public. These individuals work to keep you safe, educate the world's future generations, and overall just keep things moving. I feel that it is more than fair to reward all of this tireless effort with student loan repayment/forgiveness programs.
