Washoe County Commissioner, District 2
Commissioners are among the most powerful local officials in Southern Nevada. They manage the county’s multi-billion-dollar budget, pass ordinances, oversee infrastructure such as roads, parks, libraries, and flood control, regulate land use and development, and provide oversight of the county jail system. Their decisions directly impact public safety, housing affordability, economic opportunity, environmental sustainability, and how transparently and responsibly taxpayer dollars are used. In a rapidly growing region like Clark County, these races are critical to ensuring accountable governance, long-term planning, and policies that serve the broad interests of the community.

One primary objectives should be a coordinated, regional response to public safety challenges. I will actively promote collaboration among fire and EMS agencies, ensuring that the closest available unit is always dispatched in an emergency situation. This approach will enhance response times and improve outcomes for residents throughout Washoe County.
In addition, I am committed to upgrading aging infrastructure across the region. By focusing on improvements that address the threats of wildfires and floods, we can better protect our communities and ensure that public safety keeps pace with growth. These efforts will help safeguard our residents and maintain the resilience of our infrastructure for years to come.
To address the ongoing cost-of-living crisis in Washoe County, I will champion regional land-use policies that are specifically designed to prioritize workforce housing. My vision is to create opportunities for educators, first responders, and skilled tradespeople—the essential workers who sustain our community—to be able to afford homes within the areas they serve. By focusing on policies that support workforce housing, we can help ensure that these vital members of our workforce are not forced out of the communities they work so hard to protect and maintain.
I believe public safety requires focusing not only on enforcement, but also prevention and community trust.
*I would support ensuring our law enforcement agencies are properly staffed, trained, and equipped, while also emphasizing transparency and accountability. Residents need to feel both safe and confident in those who serve them.
*I think we need to invest more in prevention. That includes expanding mental health and substance abuse services, supporting crisis response teams, and partnering with community organizations.
*Public safety includes things like safe roads, wildfire preparedness, and disaster response. I would support investments in infrastructure and emergency management to ensure we’re ready for the risks our county faces.
