My parents didn’t have the chance to finish high school, but they instilled in me the value of education. With their support and hard work, I became my high school’s valedictorian and an honors college graduate of Milligan University. Education changed the entire trajectory of my life. I am committed to every student having access to quality academic and co-curricular educational opportunities to pursue their dreams and chosen career paths. For the past five years, I have served the Board of Education with dedication—three years as President, four as Legislative Liaison, and now as Vice President. Every decision has been guided by what is best for students, helping support meaningful growth and progress across Kingsport City Schools.
Excellent facilities matter, and a strong curriculum is essential - but the true strength of Kingsport City Schools is our people. Our teachers, support staff, and administrators work tirelessly to create meaningful learning opportunities for every child. With a diverse student population and growing support needs, adequate funding is critical. Ongoing reductions in local funding jeopardize our ability to provide the resources and services students need to succeed. I will work to restore these vital revenues. Recent state legislation has also negatively impacted public education. I will continue to advocate strongly for fair representation of public schools whenever decisions that affect our students and communities are made.
