Shall Article 3, Section 3.04 of the Home Rule Charter be amended to increase the city council per diem compensation for attendance at city council meetings from $100.00 to $150.00 not to exceed $7,800.00 per annum, and beginning January 1, 2030 to increase the per diem to $200.00 not to exceed $10,400.00 per annum?Increases Council compensation to $150 per meeting for a maximum of $7800 per year and, effective January 1, 2030, increases compensation to $200 per meeting for a maximum of $10,400 per year.

Council members are not adequately compensated for time spent in these meetings and this $2,600 per annum cap increase would bring them more in line with surrounding cities.
Richardson expects a budget shortfall in the next few years with state legislative changes that have been made. Though small, this increase will stress an already imperiled budget.
