Training and Experience
This is my third time running for this seat, after achieving the best results for a challenger in decades in prior runs in 2018 and 2020. Chair of Greene County Democratic Party, Chair of ODP Progressive Caucus.
Volunteer/Community Service
I volunteer the majority of my spare time to our democracy and strengthening our local communities.
I would vote to overturn the voter suppression laws passed in recent years, beginning with the most recent and harmful, HB 458. With turnout at historical lows, we should be making it easier to vote, not harder. This means expanding drop box availability, restoring the 10-day cure period, and dropping the unexpired photo ID requirement, which has already created unnecessary barriers for legitimate voters.
I also support nonpartisan judicial elections, allowing municipalities to adopt ranked-choice voting and reinstating same-day voter registration.
Voter fraud is statistically negligible. We should not restrict access for the many based on unfounded concerns about the few. Every measure that expands and protects the right to vote should be on the table.
Ohio’s tax system is rigged against working families. While low- and middle-income Ohioans carry a larger share of the burden, the wealthiest corporations and individuals contribute far less than their fair share. Years of tax breaks have stripped roughly $12 billion each year from state revenue, for the benefit of the ultra-rich. Ordinary Ohioans are left picking up the tab for essential services, while property taxes grow increasingly unaffordable.
The fix is straightforward: a truly progressive tax system where everyone pays their fair share. That means reinstating the corporate income tax, the removal of which failed to deliver results. It means an income tax structure with higher rates for the highest earners. If you make more, you should pay more. That’s not radical. That’s fair.
We feel the high cost of living crisis everywhere: utilities, rent, food, healthcare. Here is how we fix it.
Utility companies must be strongly regulated so communities are not exploited. As data centers expand, consumers should not be left footing the bill for the infrastructure demands they create.
If someone is working full-time and still needs food assistance, their employer is failing them and gaming the system. Corporations must pay fair wages. Ohio workers deserve labor laws that guarantee a livable wage and paid leave. Healthcare creates financial hardship for Ohio families. Implementing a universal healthcare system, like HB 289, would reduce costs for nearly every Ohioan.
Together, these policies close the income gap and put more money back in people’s pockets where it belongs.
Our schools are being asked to educate our children without the funding to do so. Years of flat state funding have put Ohio’s public school under serious financial strain. The 2023 private-school voucher program has made things worse, diverting critical dollars away from public education. Without comprehensive tax reform, many public schools will not survive. Fixing school funding is my top priority for K–12 education.
Higher Ed faces the same neglect. Flat funding has persisted for years, and SB 1 has made things worse, restricting free speech, dictating what institutions can teach, and stripping away the right to organize. I would work to overturn SB1 and make state colleges tuition-free for Ohio residents. A well-educated population is essential for a strong workforce and community.
My focus is on the real, material needs of Ohioans, and I will work with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to address them. I represent my district, not a political party. My decisions will be grounded in principle rather than party loyalty.
I will not be distracted by divisive wedge issues that do nothing for the people of Greene County. And while I will be a professional and civil voice in the Statehouse, I will not stay silent about corruption or the influence of money in politics. Those things have already compromised our government, and Ohioans are paying the price.
