I would start by ending gerrymandering, so voters choose their representatives - not the other way around. We need more transparency in campaign finance, limits on dark money, and stronger accountability for elected officials. I support protecting access to the ballot through early voting, fair maps, and clear, honest ballot language. Our system should reward competition and participation, not protect incumbents.
Ohio’s tax system is upside down. Working families often pay a larger share of their income than those at the top. It isn't fair and it is not sustainable. We should rebalance it by closing corporate loopholes, increasing transparency, and ensuring the wealthiest pay their fair share. At the same time, we should provide relief for working and middle-class families, including property tax relief and targeted credits. Tax policy should reward work, support families, and invest in strong schools, infrastructure, and communities.
The rising cost of living is the biggest issue facing Ohio families, and it requires a focused affordability agenda. That means lowering the cost of the essentials (housing, childcare, healthcare, and energy) while making sure wages keep up. We can cap childcare costs, expand healthcare and prescription drug protections, provide property tax relief, and invest in housing supply. At the same time, we should raise wages and support workers so full-time work pays enough to live on. If you work hard and play by the rules, you should be able to afford the basics.
My priority is to strengthen public education so every student has a real opportunity to succeed. That starts with fully funding Ohio’s public schools by delivering on the Fair School Funding Plan and stopping the diversion of resources through voucher expansion. We should raise teacher pay, support classroom resources, and ensure safe, high-quality learning environments.
For higher education, we need to make college and career pathways more affordable and accessible—whether that’s a four-year degree, community college, or skilled trades. That includes expanding workforce training, apprenticeships, and reducing the financial burden on students so education leads to opportunity.
Hyperpartisanship is a symptom of a broken system. When districts are gerrymandered and politicians don’t have to compete for votes, they’re incentivized to appeal to the extremes rather than represent the full community. Ending gerrymandering and creating fair, competitive districts is one of the most important steps we can take to restore balance and accountability.
But just as importantly, the challenges Ohioans face, rising costs for housing, energy, healthcare, and property taxes, don’t belong to one party. They affect all of us. And if we’re serious about solving them, we have to be willing to work together. Civility comes from recognizing shared challenges and focusing on real solutions.
