My professional experience in higher education and organizational leadership has prepared me to serve on the county council through collaboration, communication, and responsible decision-making. I regularly work with diverse stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and help steward resources to support programs and community partnerships. My training in organizational communication and leadership, along with certification in change management through Prosci, has strengthened my skills in strategic planning, problem-solving, and transparent leadership. These experiences have prepared me to listen to residents, evaluate priorities, and ensure county resources are used responsibly to serve our community.
Potential decreases in property tax revenue require thoughtful planning, transparency, and collaboration. I would work with fellow council members and county officials to carefully review the budget, prioritize essential services, and identify efficiencies where possible. It’s important to protect core services such as public safety and infrastructure while being responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars. I would also support open communication with residents about financial realities and encourage strategic, long-term planning so the county can remain fiscally stable while continuing to meet community needs.
My top priorities for the county budget would be maintaining essential services, supporting public safety, investing in infrastructure, and ensuring responsible long-term financial planning. These areas directly affect residents’ quality of life and the county’s ability to grow and thrive. Balancing these priorities requires careful evaluation of spending, focusing resources on programs that provide the greatest community impact, and regularly reviewing the budget for efficiencies. I believe in transparent decision-making, collaboration with county departments, and thoughtful planning to ensure taxpayer dollars are used responsibly while still meeting the needs of our community.
When considering economic development incentives, I would evaluate their potential to create jobs, stimulate local investment, and support long-term community growth. I would weigh the costs to taxpayers against the benefits, ensuring incentives align with county priorities and do not unfairly burden residents. Transparency, measurable outcomes, and accountability are key. Any incentive should include clear performance metrics and timelines. I would also consider impacts on small businesses, existing neighborhoods, and infrastructure to ensure that economic growth benefits the broader community sustainably and equitably.
I would engage the community through regular town halls, surveys, and open forums to listen directly to residents’ concerns and priorities. I would maintain transparent communication via social media, newsletters, and public meetings, making information accessible and understandable. Building strong relationships with neighborhood groups, civic organizations, and local stakeholders ensures diverse voices are heard. I would use this feedback to inform council decisions, balancing community input with data and long-term planning to make decisions that reflect the needs and values of all residents.
Local governments should evaluate data center proposals by considering land use compatibility, environmental impacts, and preservation of open space. Infrastructure and utility capacity, including roads, water, and high-capacity power, must support operations without straining resources. Energy demand and sustainability goals should be weighed, ensuring efficiency and minimizing environmental impact. Constituent input is critical, as community concerns about noise, traffic, or aesthetics must be addressed. Finally, economic impacts, including job creation, tax revenue, and long-term benefits versus costs, should guide responsible decision-making.
