I have been on the Center Township board for 12 years so I have learned a great deal about the workings of Township government and what the responsibilities of the Trustee are. I have served as the secretary and financial person for the board. I enjoy being able to give back to my township by serving on the board and being a voice for our community. I also support our fire department in all that they do to maintain a safe township. I am loyal, trustworthy, dependable, and a good listener that is not afraid to ask questions of accountability to our Trustee and other board members. It has been a privilege to to serve the people of Center township as a board member and would like to continue in this capacity to be a caring voice.
The Board is vital in keeping the trustee accountable for spending of township money wisely, to oversee how the needs of the township people and the people within the township that need extra support are being met, as well as making sure that our Fire Department is properly funded to keep our township safe. Having served on the board for 3 terms it is important for the board to ask questions and be up to date on issues at all levels of government, Federal, State and local, when approached by the trustee about spending taxpayer dollars on projects and their necessity within the community and how decisions made will effect the community. We represent the voice of the Township People.
I have served as the secretary and financial person for the board so I review budgets and money coming in and going out a great deal. The board is responsible for reviewing the budget, asking questions concerning expenditures and approving the budget. If the trustee needs to spend money on certain budget items she goes to the board and makes us aware of the need and why it is needed. We then discuss and approve or deny if we deem something unnecessary.
Our trustee works closely with the State and local government as well as follows federal mandates. Locally she has to work regularly with the water department, Nipsco, local shelters and food pantries, funeral homes, along with other agencies and churches that help with the less fortunate. She does an amazing job in this area of helping to assist people in need. There are many resources available at her office including GED classes, social services and financial help. She collaborates a great deal with other government agencies and works tirelessly to serve people in our township.

Local government is hands on government. The closest to the people. I’ve spent my whole life in center township. Love living here.
Probably budgets. I’m very conservative when spending other people’s money.I also believe in the township system.
By just being transparent in our dealings!

I am running for Center Board to help the homeless and less fortunate within our City and County. My strengths are working with people from all walks of life and getting jobs and events done.
Setting and voting on a working budget each year. Working within the community and helping the less fortunate. Helping the Fire Department have what they need.
Lisa and myself are close and we work very well together. We have been working together for about ten plus years helping the less fortunate.
We need to be able to work well with all of the politicians down state. Townships are needed. We need to fight for them. So we can help the people in need in our communities. If we don’t do it who will?
