There are several challenges for Cedar Lake. Professionalism by our Town Council members and several of our town Boards and Commissions have become distractions. Whether it’s failure to be knowledgeable of meeting rules of order or Commissioners being argumentative and disrespectful. The Town Council is the reigning Board. They need to intervene and bring order and professionalism to the various boards and commissions Cedar Lake deserves better.
The buck stops at the Town Council. The time has come to seriously address our towns budget. Contracts are being automatically renewed, with no question or comparison. Getting bids could open up doors to finding extra funds to sustain our towns budget. Another income source could be administrating and executing our engineering and legal service fees.
I have not served as an elected official. In Cedar Lake I have been appointed by the Town Council to serve on the Unsafe Building Board. I am currently serving on the Stormwater Board. I am a Board Member of the Cedar Lake Parks Foundation. I am the Cedar Lake CL-05 Precinct Committeeman. I also serve as Cedar Lake/Hanover Democratic Precinct Organization Chairman. I am a 40 year member of the Indiana Knights of Columbus. I was elected and served as a State Officer for 12 years. Two years as State Deputy to our 31,000 Indiana members. Leadership programs and membership are my strengths. Following my term I was awarded The Sagamore of the Wabash, by then governor Mitch Williams. A 35 year member of the United Steel Workers Union.
My wife Jeannie and I moved to Cedar Lake 3 1/2 years ago. We are both active in our community and our church. Jeannie is also a Cedar Lake Parks Foundation Board Member. We are invested in Cedar Lake. We want to see Cedar Lake become a model town, one that we can all be proud of.
