What is the most important issue facing the City of Menomonie and how would you address it?
What is the second most important issue facing the City of Menomonie and how would you address it?
What is the third most important issue facing the City of Menomonie and how would you address it?
What are your two top priority areas of concern in the upcoming budget and how would you address them?
The budget will be the greatest because of reducing support from the State and Federal Govt. The increasing cost of salaries, benefits, equipment and supplies and the list goes on. This will be addressed after much thought and consideration including working with the city's financial advisor. It cannot be resolved by just increasing the property tax.
The inadequate housing supply of all types of housing. Because of recommendations from the building committee and action by the City Council, improvement is and will continue to happen.
The downtown has the problem of not being very long or very wide pus being the route of three major highways. Bless the good pizza and burgers that can be purchased downtown, but a high-level restaurant and a fun breakfast/lunch establishment would be a great step towards improving downtown.
In addition to what is written above, an outside consultation's report showed that the fire department was short 15 employees to meet government standards. That would cost over $1,500,000 per year. The County needs the space at the Judicial Center occupied by the city police department in the next few years. A new building will be likely in the $30,000,000 plus range.
