How many school board meetings did you attend last year?
I stayed engaged through parent‑teacher conferences and district communications.
School districts can attract more candidates by simplifying the filing process, expanding community outreach, and advocating for modest incentives—such as stipends, mileage reimbursement, or professional‑development credits—to make board service as accessible and valued as other key oversight roles.
Delaware should consider targeted district consolidation where fragmentation undermines equity and efficiency, while recognizing that consolidation alone will not guarantee cost savings or solve all systemic challenges.
My background in financial management, operational leadership, and community engagement equips me to be an effective school board member who champions responsible budgeting that prioritizes student learning and teacher support. I bring a commitment to improving academic outcomes through evidence‑based programs and enrichment opportunities, strengthening teacher training and retention, and fostering meaningful parent engagement through active listening and transparent communication. I also support introducing financial literacy beginning in 5th grade to prepare students for future success, and I am firmly committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and cultural competency across all schools.
School boards should listen respectfully, follow a clear review process, and rely on state standards and expert guidance to ensure decisions protect students’ access to a high‑quality, well‑rounded education.
The single most important issue facing my school district is improving student achievement while closing persistent equity gaps, especially as the district implements new academic, cultural‑competency, and referendum‑funded initiatives. I would address this by strengthening evidence‑based instruction, expanding enrichment opportunities, supporting teachers with better training and retention strategies, and ensuring that new referendum resources are used transparently and strategically to improve learning outcomes for every student
I would use data to identify gaps, direct resources to the students who need them most, strengthen supports for English‑learners and special‑education services, and ensure culturally responsive practices and strong family engagement so every student has equitable access to high‑quality learning

I neither strongly agree nor strongly disagree; decisions about adding more school resource officers should rely on clear safety data, community input, and a balanced approach that strengthens physical security alongside mental‑health supports, positive school climate efforts, and effective student‑support programs.

The school district should actively engage with local community organizations to foster stronger partnerships and broaden outreach. One effective approach is to hold school board interest meetings, providing opportunities for community members to learn about the roles and responsibilities associated with serving on the board. Additionally, the district should widely advertise current and future vacancies during all school-sponsored events and activities, ensuring that potential candidates are well-informed. This transparency not only encourages greater participation but also helps candidates understand the challenges and expectations they may encounter if elected. If the district experiences difficulty attracting qualified individuals.
I do not have a clear answer to this question, as I have not yet observed the results of a consolidation in Delaware. I will closely monitor the progress of the Wilmington school district so that I can provide a more informed response in the future.
For the past 20 years, I have served as an educational advocate, including as the Hispanic Vice President of the Delaware PTA. My experience includes serving on school boards for Aspira of Delaware, Wilmington Head Start, and First State Educate. Additionally, I have advocated for school-age children with disabilities.
When addressing concerns about books and educational content, it is important to carefully consider the reasons presented by community members. My approach will be to review relevant school data and thoroughly examine the content in question, ensuring that decisions are made objectively and transparently. While I will listen to all viewpoints, I believe it is crucial to uphold the principles of the First Amendment, which protects freedom of expression and access to information. Therefore, any decisions regarding books or materials in schools should balance community input with a strong commitment to constitutional rights. I will communicate this perspective openly, so stakeholders understand that the process is both thoughtful and respect.
The single issue is Financial and I will be advocating for a different funding formular.
While we work within the constraints of the current system, I am committed to ensuring every dollar is spent wisely. Funding decisions must be student-centered and allocate resources based on students' actual needs, as Colonial has been doing so far. I encourage everyone to review the district’s detailed financial report at: https://www.colonialschooldistrict.org/about/financials. By maintaining this commitment to transparency and responsible stewardship, we can maximize the impact of our resources and continue to advance student learning and success.

Integrating SROs or Constables into schools can be highly beneficial. However, the most effective strategy is a balanced partnership between security and mental health experts. To achieve a truly safe and supportive environment, both professional groups must address the diverse needs of the student body.
