If elected, my top priorities will focus on strengthening crisis intervention programs, building bridges with our community and youth, and improving conditions within the jail. I will ensure our deputies are properly trained and equipped to respond to individuals experiencing mental health crises, promoting safer and more effective outcomes for everyone involved. I am equally dedicated to fostering trust through meaningful engagement with residents, especially young people, by creating outreach programs and partnerships that strengthen relationships and encourage positive interactions. In addition, I will work to enhance the safety, transparency, and overall conditions of our correctional facilities, ensuring they meet proper standards.
I bring a strong record of leadership, experience, and commitment to public service. I oversee daily operations, manage personnel, and ensure accountability while emphasizing professionalism and transparency. I have prioritized modern policing practices, including crisis intervention training, to better prepare officers to respond to mental health situations and improve outcomes for our community. I am also deeply committed to building trust through community engagement, especially with youth, by fostering partnerships and open communication. In addition to my local leadership, I serve as president of multiple law enforcement boards and actively work downstate during legislative sessions, giving me valuable experience in shaping the future
To enhance service quality and accuracy under imminent budget reductions, I would focus on responsible budgeting that prioritizes core public safety functions and eliminates unnecessary expenditures. This includes conducting regular reviews of spending to identify inefficiencies, reducing administrative waste, and ensuring funds are directed toward frontline staffing, training, and essential equipment. I would also emphasize data-driven decision-making to ensure resources are allocated where they have the greatest impact on community safety. By maintaining strict fiscal discipline while investing strategically in critical operations, we can sustain effective service without compromising accountability or public trust.
If elected Sheriff of Lake County, I would prioritize consistent, transparent, and accessible engagement with constituents to build trust and strengthen community relationships. I would hold regular town hall meetings across the county, including in underserved areas, to listen directly to residents’ concerns and provide updates on public safety initiatives. I would also expand digital communication through social media, community alerts, and a user-friendly online portal to keep the public informed in real time. In addition, I would encourage ongoing collaboration with neighborhood groups, schools, faith-based organizations, and local leaders to ensure diverse voices are heard.
As unincorporated areas in Lake County continue to decrease, I would proactively right-size the department by evaluating service demands and adjusting staffing and patrol deployment accordingly. This includes cross-training personnel to maintain flexibility, consolidating functions where appropriate, prioritizing core law enforcement responsibilities, and assisting other agencies as needed. I would also focus on strategic planning to anticipate workload shifts, ensuring resources are aligned with actual community needs while maintaining efficiency and readiness.
Since 1977, the year I was born, I have been preparing to serve as your next Lake County Sheriff. My experience, leadership, and relationships position me to be effective from day one. I will bring honesty, integrity, and professionalism to the Sheriff’s Department every day. I have broader experience at the local, county, and state levels than any other candidate. I am already performing many of the duties required of the Sheriff, allowing me to step into the role without a learning curve and continue serving the people of Lake County without delay.

1. Build a world class Sheriff's Department that is professional, constitutional, ethical, nimble, and ready to make Lake County a safer place to live and work.

2. Rebuild and restore the public's trust in the Sheriff's Department through positive leadership that is focused on serving and protecting those who serve and protect. Holding myself and all those under my command accountable for any on and off duty behavior and making public transparency a priority in all aspects of sheriff's operations.

3. Pivoting to an intel lead policing philosophy, focusing on those who are driving criminal activity and violence first. Policing for impact not statistical outcomes.

I have held several leadership roles withing the federal government. I was the Resident Agent in Chage of the ATF Merrillville Field Office and retired in 2025, as the ATF Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Field Division. Under my command was all of northern Indiana and all of central and northern Illinois, which is comprised of 7 criminal, intelligence and administrative groups. I was also the Deputy Commander of the NWI Major Crimes Taskforce for nearly 3 years. I have attended and graduated from leadership courses at the U.S. Army War College and the U.S. Air Force Academy. I was the ATF On Scene Commander for the 2024, Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Which allowed me to lead on a national level.
With a looming budget reduction, it is crucial the law enforce focus on two important strategies to maintain and improve services. 1. Pivot to an intel led policing model. Using criminal intelligence to maximize law enforcements efforts is crucial to providing services and protection to the public. Precision policing aided by intel maximizes efforts and help create crime fighting strategies. 2. Enhanced partnerships with all the law enforcement entities working in Lake County. All communities in Indiana are faced with budget cuts, and working together in a cogent manner is crucial to providing services to the public.
1. Use of social media to communicate issues, concerns and events quickly with the public 2. Host a series of Sheriff's Nights Out across the county. Going directly into the cities and town in Lake County to meet and discuss issues with the public face to face. 3. Availing myself for one-on-one meetings with people /groups who want to talk with me directly. This can happen in my office or a coffee shop or elsewhere. 4. Responding to citizen emails daily to address issues.
First, we will focus on making sure we are performing the core mission of the Sheriff's Department in most effective and efficient manner possible. Also as I previously stated, I intend to pivot to an intel led policing model. This will allow the Sheriff's Department to target those individuals who are driving violence and other criminal activities in Lake County. Additionally, through the use of criminal intel we can partner with all our LEO partners to devise crime reduction strategies that improve the use of police assets across Lake County.
I am the only candidate in this race with all the requisite leadership skills and experience to transform the Sheriff's Department into a work class police organization that is ready to focus on making Lake County a safer place to live and work.

Mental Health, Human Trafficking and Autism awareness
I have served for just under30 years as a policeman/corrections officer, dealing with individuals who suffer from mental illness and children with Autism. Also helping families in the past with a variety of issues from child abuse, domestic violence and homicides. I believe my experience make me the most qualified.
Increased training for all officers to ensure all members of the community was properly served. Communicate with public for transparency, to fit the needs of the community to make sure they are properly served.
I would engage the public by remaining accessible. Keeping the public informed by holding regular meetings and with myself, my staff and through other means (i.e social media) where I can interact with my constituents.
As unincorporated areas decrease in Lake County, as Sheriff I would partner with surrounding municipalities to ensure all citizens of Lake County were served and ensure the safety of all residents.
I have served the citizens of Lake County for just under 30 years with honor and dignity. I will continue to serve and make sure that as Sheriff I act as a unifying force to bring all of Lake County together as a strong community.

Combatting gang violence and drug-related crime. Collaborating with local agencies to ensure every community receives the protection and resources it needs and deserves. Fostering an inclusive culture where both our citizens and our law enforcement employees know their voices truly matter.
I began my career as a corrections officer in the Lake County Jail. I later joined the Indiana State Police force where have been for over 30 years and currently hold the rank of Major. I have served in every capacity within ISP, from patrol and investigations to administration. I have been responsible for managing over $400 million in daily assetts, as well as creating and developing budgets, polices, infrastructure. I also served on a special team to assist the Gary Police Department in some policy and procedure updates and implementing certain best practices. During that process I was also served as the Police Chief.
My first priority would be to do a complete assessment of all assetts and resources currently within the Sheriff's Department portfolio and conduct a needs assessment to ensure we can safely and efficiently provide the public safetly services needed countywide.
I will establish a mentoring program and internship program. I will develop a ministerial alliance taskforce; Host Sheriff's Night Out Events countywide; and maintain a social media page that will keep the community abreast of all current and upcoming events.
As an Indiana State Police commander, who has been in charge of the second largest district in the State, I am accustomed to managing state police resources across multiple jurisdictions. We will adjust accordingly based on the demands and needs to support each community within the county.
With a career spanning roles from supervisor to Commander and Chief of Police, I bring unparalleled administrative and executive-level expertise to this office. My background in criminal investigation ranging from street-level gang violence to complex white-collar crime, along with my proven fiscal responsibility, uniquely positions me as the most qualified canditate for the role of Lake County Sheriff. For 12 years, I oversaw more than $400 million in daily assets and budgets with a record of perfect fiscal integrity, maintaining zero discrepancies for both myself and the administrations under which I served.
