A county clerk in the state of Texas serves as the clerk of the county commissioners court, acts as recorder of deeds and other instruments, issues marriage licenses, and takes depositions. In some Texas counties, the county clerk is responsible conducting countywide special and general elections and handles absentee voting. The term of office is four years.Duties: serves as clerk and custodian of records for the county commissioners court, the constitutional county court, and the statutory county courts; acts as a recorder and custodian of important public records, including all bonds, deeds, birth and death certificates, assumed names and livestock brands; ensures that records are maintained in a secure and archival manner; and issues marriage licenses.

I bring Conservative, Disciplined Leadership to the Kerr County Clerk’s office. I will lead and manage a diverse group of professionals to best serve our “customers”- the citizens of Kerr County, also other Kerr County departments and agencies. My qualifications: A decade of leadership and service as a United States Marine. A BS in Business with an MBA. Multiple roles in small to large businesses, increasing responsibilities through all phases - small business owner, startups, hiring, firing, budgets, forecasts, operations, manufacturing, sales, marketing, legal, contracts, disputes, international business and sales. Making tough choices while remaining strategic and results-driven. I served as a Kerr County election judge, overseeing election clerks to ensure the integrity of the vote. I look forward to managing Kerr County elections with the same transparency and accountability throughout my term. I speak Spanish, which will be a benefit to the citizens who might not speak English.
County Clerks in Texas have the following roles and responsibilities: Issuing marriage licenses, serving as custodian of records for the commissioners court, which is the governing body of the county and for civil and criminal county courts; Acting as a recorder of public records, including all bonds, deeds, birth and death certificates, and livestock brands; ensuring that county records are maintained in a secure manner. Serving as chief elections officer in most counties. In most counties of Texas, County Clerks and their staff are responsible for running elections. This includes overseeing early voting sites, securing ballots, training poll workers, and certifying local election results.
I am qualified to serve as the County Clerk for Kerr County due to my experience and training. Over the past four years, I have worked at the County Clerk’s Office, where I currently serve as Chief Deputy County Clerk. In this role, I oversee daily operations and support all departments, gaining hands on experience in Vital Statistics, Probate and Guardianship, County Court at Law, Juvenile, Mental Health, Land and Official Public Records, and Elections. My background includes six years with the Kerrville Police Department as an Administrative Records Clerk and over 25 years in Information Technology with Dell Computer, which enhanced my skills in records management, data security, attention to detail, efficiency, and compliance with state laws and deadlines. I am committed to professional development through annual training with the Texas Secretary of State, Texas College of Probate Judges, and County/District Clerk State Conferences.
The County Clerk plays a vital role in serving the public and ensuring efficient and transparent county government operations. As the official record keeper, the Clerk’s Office maintains and safeguards essential documents, including birth and death certificates, marriage licenses, property records, assumed names, and Commissioners’ Court records, ensuring accountability and public access. The Clerk also supports the local court system by managing staff, overseeing records, and collecting court fees for Mental Health, Criminal, Juvenile, Probate and Guardianship Courts. Additionally, the Clerk administers alcohol and beverage licenses and serves as the Clerk for Commissioners’ Court to ensure accurate recordkeeping. The County Clerk is responsible for administering elections, including managing ballot preparation, overseeing early voting and Election Day activities, and reporting accurate results. Above all, the County Clerk’s role is rooted in public service, providing professional, dependable, and lawful assistance to the community while upholding public trust.
