As a candidate for Justice of the Peace for District 11 in Saint Francis County, I understand that this role involves serving on the Quorum Court, the county’s legislative body. Justices of the Peace review and vote on ordinances and resolutions that govern county operations. The position includes working with the County Judge to levy taxes as allowed by law, appropriating funds for county services, and ensuring fiscal responsibility. Additionally, Justices of the Peace help preserve peace and order and work to protect the community from harmful or dangerous activities.
I bring over forty years of experience as a public school educator, including over twenty years in school administration in the county where I’m seeking election. Throughout my career, I have worked closely with school boards, superintendents, parents, and community stakeholders to make decisions that positively impacted schools and communities. I have strong relationship-building skills and a deep commitment to fairness and service. In addition to my professional experience, I currently serve as Social Action Co-Chair in my sorority and volunteer with a nonprofit organization that provides education, food, clothing, and other essential services to residents in our county. These experiences reflect my lifelong dedication to service.
My first priority as Justice of the Peace will be listening to my constituents. Too often, people feel unheard in local government. I plan to engage with residents through conversations and community outreach to better understand their concerns and priorities. I am committed to carrying those concerns to the Quorum Court so that the voices of District 11 are heard and considered in county decision-making.
