Drew Marion Constable
Over their two-year term, a constable has the same law enforcement authority as a sheriff in their township. They have arrest power, can write citations, and respond to accidents. A 2007 law, however, placed training requirements on constables if they wanted to carry a gun on duty and have access to the Arkansas Crime Information Center. State law also requires them to wear uniforms while on duty and label any patrol vehicle with "Arkansas Constable" on it. They are required to turn over any fines collected from citations to the county.Under state law, they no longer have authority to appoint deputies. They are required to keep records of any citations and administrative records, similar to requirements placed on sheriffs.https://www.uaex.uada.edu/business-communities/ced-blog/posts/2022/may/what-is-a-constable.aspx

My duties as Constable of Marion Township is to serve and protect the people of my community by keeping the peace and enforcing Arkansas law. I will work to prevent crime, respond to incidents and disturbances, make arrests when necessary, and serve warrants and other legal papers through the courts. I support and work alongside the Drew County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies to help maintain public safety. Above all, I strive to be visible, accessible, and fair while serving the residents of Marion Township with professionalism and integrity.
I am a certified law enforcement officer with the Drew County Sheriff's Office and currently work for the Monticello School District as a school resource officer. I have 19 years of law enforcement experience and approximately 1,650 training hours.
I plan to continue working with all of the local law enforcement departments and strengthening the working relationships with them. I also want to make the office of Drew County Constable more of a working office and by that I mean being more hands on and active in the township and available for the residents of Marion Township.
