Buffalo Island Central has a rich heritage of academic excellence that can be proven by the high success rate of graduates. The culture of the Mustang Family among colleagues and on behalf of students is a true extension of the family-oriented and strong support system that is established and enjoyed. BIC offers a plethora of opportunities for students: from an array of sports opportunities, to drama productions, band, choir, and art, to career readiness through vocational classes, to livestock showing, to E-Sports and Quiz Bowl (not a comprehensive list of activities) there is literally "something for everyone" available.
As a member of the Board of Education, it would be my goal to protect the traditions and heritage of BIC as well as to enhance its future by offering a unique perspective as a 39 year veteran educator in the district. I believe that my insight and continued connection to educational policies as an adjunct professor at Arkansas State University would be valuable in leading the district to meet the challenges of a balanced curriculum (blending technology with traditional methodology), to maximize school monies through budgeting, and to make decisions that are in the best long-term interest of the school district.
