As lifelong resident of Noblesville and business owner, I have always felt it is important to give back to the community. I feel that being on the Township Board will provide me another great opportunity to give my time and resources to the community.
The purpose of township government is to provide essential services to the residents. These services or items include fire and emergency services, those in need of emergency shelter or financial assistance, along with providing recreation camps, as well as a food and clothing pantry.
With the large population growth of Noblesville, as well as being the county seat, there has been large increase for the services and assistance that the Noblesville Trustee office provides to the citizens of the community. I believe finding a way to work within the township fiscal budget and still providing the critical services and assistance needs is crucial to the township.
With being one of the business owners at Green Vista Landscaping for the last 20 plus years, this has allowed to me to find ways to be very efficient with budgets, as well as resources. I have also learned to become very proficient in addressing and communicating with others when problems or issues arise unexpectedly.
Finally, the incumbent board members have all served for several concurrent terms. Since, I have not served prior on the board, this will allow me to bring some new ideas and fresh perspectives to the board.
I volunteered for many years coaching my children's youth sports teams throughout the community.
I am a member of the Noblesville Noon Kiwanis Club, where I have been the past President and am the current Treasurer.
I have also served on several committees at the Boys and Girls Club of Noblesville.
Candidate Statement
I am seeking reelection to the Noblesville Township Board because I care about this community and the people who live here. My priorities are helping residents in need, supporting public safety, encouraging youth programs, and maintaining fiscal responsibility . I have many years of Hamilton County government experience, and I want to continue serving Noblesville Township in a practical, thoughtful way.
Occupational background
Retired. Formerly worked in Hamilton County government, including the Hamilton County Auditor’s Office and as Assistant Director of the Hamilton County Highway Department.
Political Office(s) Held in the Past
Noblesville Township Board, 2011–present Hamilton County Assessor, 1991–1998
I am seeking reelection to the Noblesville Township Board because I care about this community and the people who live here. I have seen firsthand how local government can help people in practical ways. I want to continue being part of that work and making sure township government stays helpful, accessible, and responsible.
The purpose of township government is to provide help close to home. It is there to assist residents in times of need, support essential services, and make sure people know where to turn. To me, township government is neighbors helping neighbors and making sure no one falls through the cracks.
The biggest needs are continuing to help residents facing hardship while keeping township services strong and affordable. Rising housing, food, and utility costs are affecting many families. I would continue supporting township assistance, careful budgeting, and good communication so people can get help quickly and know what resources are available.
I bring experience, compassion, and a long history of public service. I have worked in Hamilton County government for many years , served on the Township Board, and was twice elected Hamilton County Assessor. I understand budgets and public service, but I also try to remember the real people behind every decision.
My years in Hamilton County government have prepared me well for this position. I have also been involved with Hamilton County Republican Women and the United Township Association of Indiana. Those experiences have helped me stay connected to local issues and reinforced the importance of practical, people-focused public service.
The next four years will be critical for the future of the Township services. The possibility of closing all Township offices is in discussion with the State Legislature. Should the State dissolve services for the Townships, many necessary decisions must be made in order to find new options to fulfill the local need. Finding the most qualified individuals to help make good decisions will be necessary. With my 20 plus years of experience in local government, I believe I am qualified to provide insight toward a new future for Townships. A merger option, city or county to take the responsibilities or reduction in low population areas. This is not the time for the State to dictate to local government how to provide necessary services to our population. Education of State representatives of services provided, intelligent discussion and participation toward important outcomes will be the goal for all Townships.
Township government was established in 1823 to provide assistance to families moving to Indiana as part of the Land Grants offered to farmers looking for opportunities and new lives. Some farmers did very well and others found needs unfulfilled. Just like today, making ends meet is not easy. The same concerns and reality of needing help with a variety of assistance still exists today. The Township offices throughout the state are closest to the people with walk in service available and a real person to talk to for immediate assistance. Unique in any comparison with other government programs with waiting times, forms to manage, unanswered calls, lack of efficiency and follow up, leave many unfulfilled needs.
The Township offices have managed to develop service and fulfillment directly or by connecting people to their best option. Never just ignoring the problem but solving problems with real solutions. Township offices work!
The most pressing need is to keep the Township services available to all. Not to ignore necessary reform but address cost effective service, efficiencies, populations being served and a general value to cost effectiveness and outcomes.
First and foremost, after four years on the board , helping make decisions and seeing first hand the need including the solutions, I am a believer. Now is not the time to stop providing services after all these years. I know there can be cost cutting measures if that is what the State wants, I know there can always be new ways of doing things. I know there can be continued discussion and education to the law makers. If they know the real options and are willing to work with the local governments, goals can be met without "throwing out the baby with the bath water". Opening up wider conversations with more people is a start. This is a bottom up approach and concessions are possible. Today, those solutions are not clear from the State level.
My experience in government makes me ready and able to help keep a viable working service to our citizens but make it even better. I would suggest to the state that there are many areas in government to review first.
Areas of past participation have been Noblesville Chamber of Commerce President, founder of People Helping People, Founder of the Free Thanksgiving Dinner for the Community, millions in grant money for public projects, Urban Forestry grants and awards, City Road reconstruction $9 million grant, Founder of Noblesville Arts Commission for free family events city wide, $30,00 grant for River Overlook project, One of seven communities and regions selected for "Liveability Test" model by US Department of Housing and Urban Development and Partners for Livable Places.
Always, ready to create and expand on new ways of doing old things and nothing is to hard to solve when it comes to people who live in the Noblesville city and Township. I will work for all the people and listen in the process. I hope you will consider me and my experience for another 4 years. Thank you.
