The Coroner’s Office is responsible for investigating deaths that occur suddenly, unexpectedly, or under unusual circumstances, and for determining the cause and manner of death in accordance with Arkansas law. This work requires close coordination with law enforcement, medical examiner offices, healthcare providers, and other agencies to ensure each case is handled accurately and professionally.
Beyond the investigative role, the Coroner also serves families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. That includes clear and compassionate communication, proper documentation and completion of death certificates, and ensuring that every individual is treated with dignity and respect.

I bring more than 26 years of professional experience in the death-care field, working directly with families, coroners, medical examiner offices, healthcare providers, and law enforcement agencies across Arkansas. I hold a degree in Mortuary Science from the University of Arkansas, with formal coursework in pathology, anatomy, microbiology, and the chemical and physical changes that occur after death. I am also a Nationally Certified Medicolegal Death Investigator, trained in scene examination, documentation, and death certification. In addition, I bring leadership experience managing operations and personnel, and a lifelong understanding of this work as the son of a coroner.
The first improvement I will focus on is ensuring timely and accurate completion of death certificates. Delays create unnecessary stress for grieving families and can hinder their ability to settle affairs. I will accomplish this by reviewing current procedures, utilizing secure access to medical records, strengthening communication with healthcare providers and medical examiners, and implementing clear internal timelines and accountability. This approach maintains accuracy while reducing delays and better serves families during an already difficult time.
