CHIPPEWA COUNTY CIRCUIT COURT JUDGE BRANCH 3

Wisconsin’s courts play a vital role in protecting our rights and upholding the rule of law. State courts hear approximately 95% of all cases, including matters involving families, contracts, criminal law, voting rights, juvenile justice, and constitutional questions. They are the final arbiters of state law and the Wisconsin Constitution. The Wisconsin Circuit Courts are the main trial courts for civil and criminal cases in the Wisconsin court system. They also hear cases appealed from Municipal Courts and from administrative hearings. At least one circuit court judge serves in each of the state's 72 counties. Voters elect Circuit Court judges to serve six-year terms in nonpartisan elections. There is no term limit.Learn more

Currently, I serve as a circuit court judge. I am required to follow the law and decide all matters without bias or prejudice. I must perform all duties fairly and impartially. I believe I am demonstrating this to all parties who appear in my courtroom.
As a current circuit court judge, I am required to be patient, dignified, and courteous to all litigants, jurors, witnesses, attorneys, and others whom I encounter in my official capacity. I must decide cases fairly and impartially regardless of race, gender, religion, or national origin. I believe that following this duty will be beneficial to all parties to appear in my courtroom.
As a current circuit court judge, I am required to maintain an absence of bias or prejudice in favor of, or against, particular parties, or classes of parties, as well as maintaining an open mind in considering issues that may come before me. The best way to demonstrate this is by upholding integrity and independence as a judge and not be swayed by political influence or intimidation.
As a current circuit court judge, I am required to interpret and apply the laws that govern us. This pertains to all cases in civil and criminal jurisdiction. I am required to demonstrate due regard for the rights of the parties to be heard and to resolve issues without unnecessary cost or delay. This is accomplished by being courteous to all parties, fully listening, and issuing legal decisions with careful thought and wisdom.
I admire the late Chief Justice, William Rehnquist. He was a champion of Federalism and the notion of state sovereignty and limited federal powers.
