I am running in order to make my town a comfortable, safe, and prosperous place for young families to move to. I am an attorney work works mainly in representing employees who have been unlawfully terminated or discriminated against. My background as a civil rights attorney gives me a unique perspective on the hardships facing citizens in their day-to-day lives.
Right now, it is prohibitively expensive to purchase a house and save for retirement, especially for young workers. On a larger scale, the economics is beyond the scope of the position I am running for. However, the services provided by a city government affect how money flows in and out of the pockets of its residents. My goal is to make life enjoyable for my constituents. Good roads, safe parks, and strong community services are the goal.
My District is primarily single-family housing. Affordable housing in the form of rental properties are few and far between. So, for me, equal opportunity comes in the form of equal access to parks, equitable spending between District 12 and other districts in the city, and focusing on bring the next generation of families into our city.
By making community services more efficient, there would be a reduction in greenhouse waste. Further, long term goals of improvements to parks would allow for residents to build a better sense of community, leading to more trust amongst the city residents. That trust would transfer to better paying jobs in the community.
The 12th District is in desperate need of additional law enforcement to prevent reckless driving. With two high schools and an elementary school within 1/2 miles of my house, the dangerous driving is a threat to our children. Measures must be taken to address drivers who ignore traffic signs, or who are distracted while driving.
