The City of Fitchburg has chosen to invest in housing through an affordable housing fund, which has been used to support energy efficiency upgrades and smaller affordable housing units as well as provide more options for below market rate housing. We have also increased high and medium density development in existing and new neighborhoods, increasing the stock of available housing in Dane County. We should continue to contribute to the available housing stock in our region, which is a recommendation of the Dane County Housing Plan.
As the fastest growing municipality in the state, Fitchburg can serve as a model for smart growth. It is important that as we build new neighborhoods or add to existing ones, that residents have access to public transportation, food, businesses, and walkable streets within the area they live. Construction of new neighborhoods must include sidewalks. We have invested in expansion of our bus services. And multi unit apartments should have available storefronts for businesses.
Our constituents want to live in thriving, safe, and connected communities. As alder, I support the increase in public spaces such as community parks and youth centers, access to public transportation, and an increase in affordable housing.

We recently broke ground on a community park in the North Fish Hatchery Road area and have plans to create a teen center in the King James neighborhood in the next several years. We will increase bus service to new parts of the city. And we will continue to invest in housing to increase the stock in our region.
I have served as a member of the common council since 2020. In my time, I have introduced and supported policy that has made polling locations closer to residents in my district. Additionally, I have supported the inclusion of our residents in decision making process by recruiting diverse constituents to serve as committee members. As a member of the bike committee, I've supported the introduction and expansion of e-bike (BCycle) stations throughout the city. And I've introduced and supported the ongoing development of a Teen Center to serve youth throughout Fitchburg.

I'm a career long youth worker, with experience at the University, nonprofits, and schools. I am a proud father of a 19 year old and 9 year old and value inclusion.
