Affordable housing is a top priority. I backed a $10M Housing Fund, which has been used for workforce units in market-rate buildings and energy-efficiency upgrades for rental apts. Future uses may include senior emergency aid and downpayments; we are also exploring a public–private partnership to create about 100 homes priced around $350k. Outdated zoning rules can drive up housing costs; in 2025 we made updates to remove unnecessary barriers to build more missing middle homes. A full zoning code update is next. People of all incomes should be able to live, work, and age in place in Fitchburg
I support aligning growth with investments in police, fire, and EMS so our neighborhoods remain safe as the city evolves. On transportation, I support proactive planning—safer intersections, bike paths, bus access, and walkable neighborhoods. Growth must also respect what makes Fitchburg special— preserving farmland, parks, wetlands, and natural corridors with strong environmental standards to protect water quality. Clear long-range planning should guide development to the right places at the right scale, with community engagement. Fiscal tools like impact fees can ensure growth pays its way.
Another compelling issue is addressing the fear many residents feel around ICE activity. I hear directly from residents who are worried about their safety, their families, and their ability to fully participate in community life. As an immigrant, I understand that fear personally. While cities do not control federal enforcement, we have a duty to build trust and ensure residents feel safe accessing services. I am committed to keeping our community welcoming, sharing Know Your Rights resources, and strengthening partnerships that support and protect all residents.
I have a track record of proven results as an alder (8 years) and as Mayor (3 years). I’ve served on numerous committees and have a deep understanding of city processes and ordinances, including finance, personnel, planning, economic development, and addressing inequalities in our neighborhoods. I was also President of the Common Council. I have over 20 years of professional experience working for Wegner CPAs. I hold a bachelor’s degree in business and accounting and an MBA, and numerous other certifications. I am fluent in Spanish. I have lived in Fitchburg for 21 years. . I have served on many local boards, including the Latino Chamber of Commerce, GMCC, Agrace, Overture, and currently the League of Wisconsin Municipalities.

Affordable housing affects everyone, yet too often it’s treated as a talking point instead of an actionable plan. In Fitchburg, development has increased, but so have municipal fees - permit, parkland dedication, and impact fees - reaching close to 30% of project costs, driving up prices for renters and buyers. With home prices near $485,000 and rising property taxes, affordability must last beyond purchase. As Mayor, I will reassess fees, streamline permitting, support down-payment assistance, and partner on true starter-home projects to keep Fitchburg affordable.
Growth in Fitchburg is inevitable, but what truly matters is creating long-term neighborhood plans and a Comprehensive Plan that fully address all of the above concerns. Thoughtfully planned areas for different types of development are essential. Ensuring adequate room for business, commercial, industrial, and housing growth is vital for a thriving community and helps offset the levy with new tax dollars without greatly increasing municipal service demands. That balance comes from smart, careful planning paired with flexibility and compromise.
Housing is a focus, but infrastructure and community matter just as much. Fitchburg residents have raised concerns about roads, water lines, and maintenance as property taxes rise. Residents deserve clear value for the cost of living here. As Mayor, I will focus on a long-term infrastructure plan to keep the city well maintained, residents safe, and taxpayers confident their dollars are used wisely. I'll also strengthen community connections through partnerships with local businesses, the Chamber, and residents, and ensure our police and fire departments are properly staffed and well equipped.
I hold dual bachelor degrees in Political Science and Economics from UW–Madison, which taught me how policy on paper intersects with the real world. I first worked in the WI State Senate, which provided experience with budgeting and legislation. I then moved into the private sector, and later earned my RE broker’s license and launched my own business. Today, I serve as VP of Business Development at KSW Construction and Exec. Director of the Apartment Assoc. of SC WI. Alongside my professional career, I've grown a nonprofit volleyball club and coach at La Follette HS. These experiences give me a balanced, practical approach to leadership - one that blends public policy, business insight, and community service to effectively serve as Mayor.
