I have been involved in local Franklin politics for the last 10 years. I decided to run because important development decisions are being made in my district and I would like to represent my neighbors to ensure our voices are heard. I have a masters degree in Social Work, and am a licensed Realtor. I sit on the Franklin Board of Review and Personnel Committee. I am a member of the WRA Public Policy Committee, and am 2nd VP of the Franklin Noon Lions Club.
Responsible development is the most major issue facing my district. We have a lot of farm land and environmentally sensitive areas that require advocacy and protection from irresponsible development. The other issue neighbors are concerned about are taxes and increasing assessments. Flooding has also been a major issue in D6. Some of the flooding is caused by development and road projects and needs to be carefully considered.
As alderperson, I would listen carefully to residents, review proposals with a long-term lens, and make decisions that strengthen opportunity for all without compromising the character or financial stability of our community.
Our municipality can participate by aligning local efforts where it makes sense, such as improving energy efficiency in municipal buildings, supporting responsible development, pursuing grant funding for infrastructure, and ensuring residents have access to emerging workforce opportunities tied to sustainability. Any participation should be practical, fiscally responsible, and focused on tangible benefits for our residents.
Public safety starts with data and accountability. If crime is concentrated in specific areas, we should focus our response there, working collaboratively with law enforcement, property owners, business owners, and residents to address root causes and improve safety. Smart, targeted strategies are more effective than broad, reactive approaches.
