The council is the town’s policy-making body. Duties include adopting local laws, setting budgets and tax rates, appointing key staff, overseeing policy implementation, appointing boards, and ensuring public health, safety and welfare. It provides direction to town staff and ensures policy goals are met. Terms are three years; elections are at-large. Annual salary: $7,800

What is your municipality's biggest threat and how should they address it?

What is your municipality's greatest strength and how should they build on it?

Whether or not to eliminate or reduce property taxes is being considered by the governor and the Legislature. What services would have to be cut or how would you make up for revenue losses if this goes through? What, in your view, should be done?

The state has launched Florida Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) audits of several counties. Where do you see an opportunity for budget savings in your municipality?

Florida's new homeless law, House Bill 1365, prohibits sleeping or camping in public areas like parks and sidewalks, with exceptions for designated areas with shelter and services. How is your municipality doing in managing the issue under this new law?

The greatest threat to our town is rising costs, which impact affordability, and we address it through budgeting, continued investment in community safety, and community services
Our municipality's greatest strength is our close connection to our residents. We have an open-door policy, and we make decisions that reflect the voices of the people of Hypoluxo
Eliminating property taxes sounds appealing, but those revenues support essential services such as police, emergency responses, and town operations. We would see a funding gap that would likely have to be made up through higher fees or other taxes

Hurricane preparedness. We just installed hurricane windows in town hall.
Fiscal responsibility.
We are transferring the maintenance cost of the Hypoluxo scrub to the county. The county will construct staff a new library for our community.
We contract police protection to the town of Lantana and fire services to the city of Boynton Beach. Most of the residential property's in out town are in home owners associations.
Homelessness in south Florida is a problem. Currently there is not a problem is our town.
