The primary responsibility of the Tax Collector is to collect taxes assessed on your property each year. Upon collection, we distribute the funds to the treasurer for subsequent allocation to various entities. The schools in your district receive approximately 80% of every dollar, with the remaining 20% is allocated to cities, county general, county roads, and county libraries.
I started in the collector’s office over 21 years ago. My predecessor hired me in 2004 as a Deputy Clerk. After a few short years of learning the collections processes, educating taxpayers and familiarizing myself with the laws, I was promoted to Branch Manager. I continued to expand my knowledge and leadership experience, and in 2015, I ran for Washington County Collector and was honored to be elected.
As our county continues to grow, I remain vigilant about meeting the evolving needs of our taxpayers. I am exploring ways to enhance payment options, while ensuring compliance and security.
