Contest Constable, Township one, Saline County, Arkansas
A Constable has roughly the same duties as a Deputy Sheriff without a jail. One of the biggest differences is that a Constable answers to the people, not another official. Constables have full arrest authority and can serve warrants, civil papers, and restraining orders just like a sheriff's deputy or city police officer. If we make an arrest, we turn the arrested person over to the County Jail, which is run by the Sheriff.
I have 38 years of law enforcement experience including 12 years of teaching law enforcement at the college level during which time I was also working part-time as a police officer to stay current with the changes in the field. I was also the interim Chief of Police for 6 months at a 63 person police department. The last 6 years of my experience was as the constable in Township One, Saline County, Arkansas.
I plan to increase traffic enforcement to cut down on the number of accidents. I will also step up enforcement of drug laws to help cut down on drug trafficking through my township.
