Pike MTN Constable
Over their two-year term, a constable has the same law enforcement authority as a sheriff in their township. They have arrest power, can write citations, and respond to accidents. A 2007 law, however, placed training requirements on constables if they wanted to carry a gun on duty and have access to the Arkansas Crime Information Center. State law also requires them to wear uniforms while on duty and label any patrol vehicle with "Arkansas Constable" on it. They are required to turn over any fines collected from citations to the county.Under state law, they no longer have authority to appoint deputies. A constable full law enforcement powers in the township they are elected in. Constables can make arrests, write citations, and preform all duties that a county deputy or city police officer can, as long as they are certified in the job duties they are preforming.
I got my part time certification in May of 2014, and started my career at the the Glenwood Police Department. In 2017 i was hired as a Sheriff's Deputy for the Pike County Sheriff's Department. I completed my full time certification in December 2017.
During my law enforcement career, I've worked as a Pike County Deputy, Investigator for the 9th West Drug Task Force, and I'm currently the Chief of Police for the Kirby School District Police Department.
I plan on working side by side with all law enforcement agencies to help reduce the crime and drug issues in my township.
