The County Judge serves as the chief executive officer of the Jefferson County government. The Judge presides over the Quorum Court, authorizes and approves the disbursement of county funds that have been appropriated, operates the county road system, administers ordinances enacted by the Quorum Court, maintains custody of county property, and hires county employees except those employed by other elected county officials. As the chief executive of the county, the County Judge has a unique opportunity to lead the county’s prosperity efforts and improve the quality of life for the citizens of the county. The County Judge also plays an important role in planning, intergovernmental coordination, and emergency management.
I bring leadership and management experience aligned with the responsibilities of County Judge, including operational execution, fiscal discipline, collaboration, and accountability. As a career U.S. Army officer, I led teams and complex operations under pressure, preparing me to oversee county operations and emergency response. As Secretary of the AR Dept. of Veterans Affairs, I worked with county judges, Quorum Courts, and local leaders, gaining insight into county operations and budgeting. I have also served in senior financial roles overseeing budgets and outcomes, preparing me to responsibly manage public funds and lead Jefferson County with integrity.
My first priority is strengthening coordination and transparency so county government delivers better results with existing resources. I will work closely with the Quorum Court and county officials to set shared priorities, review budgets and outcomes, identify inefficiencies, and align resources with urgent needs. I will listen to employees and residents to address operational challenges and morale. Focus areas include roads, emergency preparedness, economic development assets like the Pine Bluff Port, veterans’ services, and workforce readiness. My goal is an accountable, efficient, and fair county government for every Jefferson County resident.
