I have over 40 years of work experience that qualifies me to be State Representative for District 85. I have over 7 years experience in the United States Army as a Commissioned Officer this has provided me the opportunity to lead and follow. This experience has sharpened my ability to work and learn with others. I have over 27 years combined in higher education as a professor/administrator and in K-12 over 10 years as a school board member for Royal Independent School District. I clearly understand the improvements needed in education and workforce needs for success.
Texas laws should adapt the policy that providing all qualified voters the opportunity to vote is good for America. Voting should be accessible and free from intimidation. Provide fair and equal voting locations in all areas. Texas should also have a State Holiday for voting.
Workforce education and transfer education is simply good for America! Texas should provide free education for the first two years of college focusing on Community Colleges as the leader in this process. Providing workers for industry needs and helping Texans improve thier social economic status should be our policy. Education can change everything and help move this effort forward.
The Texas House Representative has oversight and the responsibility of policy when it comes to specific healthcare funding. I would fight to make sure insurance plans pay a fair share of the cost of health care. Another huge concern for me is making sure that surprise billing is totally eliminated. Prior to any procedure cost in detail should be provided to the customer. I also would fight to make sure pharmaceutical needs are based on the doctor’s recommendation and not the provider. Pushing to ensure that the consumer knows everything detail about cost to include what and where to go for the least expensive procedure or the least expensive medication. This should be the responsibility of the healthcare provider.
Texas House Representatives have the power to review and regulate specific processes making it less cumbersome for business and developers. It is always logical to consider consider tax breaks for industry to move into specific areas and also encourage incentives for growth and expansion.
