Elected by the voters of Nueces County in 2002, I have served as judge of this court for 23 years. My career has been devoted to public service and the fair and independent administration of justice. I am seeking re-election to continue that work. Before taking the bench, I served as a prosecutor in this court, handled a broad civil practice, and gained judicial experience as an elected Justice of the Peace.
With 23 years on this bench—hearing cases, ruling on motions, presiding over jury and bench trials, and managing demanding criminal and civil dockets—I bring proven experience and a deep commitment to serving our community. The continued support of the people of Nueces County and my desire to serve motivates me to seek re-election.

Why do judges run under a political party label?
This is a question I hear often. In Texas, legislators decide how judges are selected, and while this issue has been debated in past legislative sessions, state judges currently run under party labels—even though politics should have no role in a judge’s work. A judge’s responsibility is to follow the law. That is the oath that I took and that is how I serve every single day as a judge.
I encourage voters to look beyond labels and focus on experience, qualifications, and a demonstrated commitment to fair and impartial justice.

For 23 years my priorities have been, and will remain the same if re-elected:
Ensuring every party is heard and has their day in court by providing a respectful courtroom environment, treating all participants professionally, and listening carefully to all parties;
Being thoroughly prepared for all proceeding by knowing and following the law, reviewing case files and applicable case law in advance and applying the law consistently and impartially; and
Actively managing the court’s docket efficiently to minimize delays by setting cases for trial, starting court on time, being prepared for every hearing, keeping proceedings focused, issuing timely rulings, and respecting the schedules of all jurors, attorneys, litigants and witnesses.
