Biographical Information

What motivated you to run for this office?

Describe your strongest competency and life experience that qualify you to hold this office.

During your campaign, what is the number one concern expressed to you by residents? What is your response to this concern?

Other than the issues previously addressed, what are your top three priorities, and, if elected, how would you address them?

This is a great opportunity to work with youth as the Justice of The Peace Court is the first stop in the criminal justice pipeline. I can help youth avoid the transition into incarceration and help them become successful.
My strongest competency is working with youth and their families for over 6 years in Nueces County. 3 years as a Juvenile Supervision Officer and 3 years as a Juvenile Case Manager.

I was a youth in court that was given a second chance. I know what it is like to sit on the other side and I am proof people can change. Now I have worked for 7 of the 9 Justices of the Peace in Nueces County and have created Youth Diversion Programs for several courts.
The number one concern is vaping. I inform parents that a drug intelligence officer with HIDTA has confirmed vapes are being laced with fentanyl. I believe vapes that are confiscated need to be tested so we can know for sure what is in them. Youth are addicted to vaping and struggling to stop.
Having knowledgeable and well-trained staff, being available to hear truancy cases, and advocating for more juvenile case managers are my top three priorities.

I would ensure staff are able to attend classes by the Texas Justice Court Training Center and have in office cross training.

I worked in courts that hear the majority of truancy cases in Nueces County. I have gained a vast wealth of knowledge from Judges and their staff. I am confident in my ability to hear truancy cases.

I am the only juvenile case manager employed by the county. In 2016, it was recommended by the Nueces County Truancy Committee to hire more juvenile case managers. Coming together with community stakeholders, we can find a solution.
