(Dem)
What motivated you to run for this office?
Describe your strongest competency and life experience that qualify you to hold this office.
During your campaign, what is the number one concern expressed to you by residents? What is your response to this concern?
Other than the issues previously addressed, what are your top three priorities, and, if elected, how would you address them?
Ever since I entered the public arena, the only motivation I’ve had in seeking public office is to effectively serve the public. These offices belong to the people and elected officials are granted the privilege of serving the people by virtue of their election. I have never forgotten this basic principle of a democratic government. I only run for office for the purpose of using whatever God given talents I have and all of the substantial experience I’ve acquired to serve my fellow citizens.
Having been born and raised in extremely marginalized and impoverished circumstances I have the life experience necessary for dealing with the difficult situations that are oftentimes involved in the cases that are heard in district court.
My experience as County Attorney, District Attorney, City Attorney and District Judge serves as adequate preparation for the position of District Court Judge.
Almost every single resident that speaks to me wants to know about the Selena murder case. This is the most highly publicized case in the history of the State of Texas and I was the lead prosecutor. What most people are concerned about is whether the murderer will be released from prison.
My top priorities are: 1. Assuring that the courts remain open and available to all people regardless of their personal beliefs.
2. Treating all people with the respect and dignity that they deserve. 3. Assure that all people have an opportunity to be heard in their pending complaints.
This will be accomplished in an orderly, transparent and respectful manner. It may take time to accomplish this but it will be done by hard work, discipline and patience.
