As a Corpus Christi native and first generation lawyer, I have a deep appreciation for the law, especially as it applies to our community. I believe justice applies to everyone, regardless of race, class, status, or party affiliation. Fundamental fairness in our judicial system is paramount. Helping others is why I became a lawyer, and why I continue to represent the most vulnerable as a criminal attorney. I have represented hundreds of individuals and have seen firsthand how important it is for judicial decisions to be based on knowledge of the law and unbiased and non-partisan opinions. I look forward to transferring my qualifications, work ethic, integrity, and respect for the law to the bench as your next 94th District Court Judge.
I am a board certified criminal lawyer. In Texas, only 6% of lawyers are board certified, with less than 1% of lawyers certified in criminal law. The majority of cases heard in Nueces District Courts are criminal, and they consist of the most serious offenses. My certification and over 16 years of trial experience make me the most qualified candidate. Additionally, I am the only candidate that currently practices in District Court, which encompasses over 90% of my work. I also have civil litigation experience, having practiced in all areas of law brought in District Court. I am a leader by nature with a heart for service. My qualifications, work ethic, passion for justice, and admiration of the law make me the best candidate for judge.
There is an overwhelming concern amongst constituents about why judicial candidates have to run on a partisan ticket. There is so much focus on party affiliation, which is often all that is considered amongst voters in the community. I explain that while I am on the democratic ticket, I cannot, will not, and should not bring in my own personal biases or opinions into the courtroom. The Judge should be the most non-partisan, unbiased person in the room. I will ensure that my decisions are based on the law, rooted in fairness, and not ever self-serving or used for political gain. I encourage voters to education themselves about the candidates and their qualifications, not vote based on party affiliation alone.
1. Justice is critical. This is achieved when there is a knowledgeable individual on the bench, with understanding of the law and passion for doing what is right and fair. When elected, I will make justice the utmost priority.

2. Efficiency is key. I plan to run an efficient court by being readily available to hear cases and making prompt decisions and rulings on each matter. I have a strong work ethic and am looking forward to running an efficient court while still affording each party their opportunity to be heard.

3. Attentiveness, patience, and having an open ear are vital. A judge should give the attorneys and litigants in front of them their full attention when on the bench, and give each party a fair opportunity to advocate.
