As Commissioner for Pct 2, I represent Bishop, Petronila and Southwest Corpus Christi with a commitment to transparency and accountability.

I have been encouraged by my constituents and local businesses to seek another term. There is still so much to do, and I would be honored to continue to serve my community. I am committed to continuing to complete various ongoing projects that will benefit the residents of Corpus Christi and rural areas of Nueces County.

I invite you to come visit me at the Nueces County Courthouse, Room 303.7, or call 361-888-0296. I believe in a truthful, inclusive government that works for everyone.
I have been a public servant for most of my entire life. I served six years US Marine Corps and Air Force Reserve ten years. A Corpus Christi police officer ten years. Twenty-one years, U.S. Department of Justice, United States Federal Court System and Federal Bureau of Prisons. I ran for Justice of the Peace and was elected where I pioneered truancy reduction and supported local youth and education programs. After 10 years, I retired and decided to run for county commissioner to make a difference in my community. Serving fifteen years as Commissioner, I have been a committed public servant to strengthen essential county services. I will work every day to ensure all voices are represented.
The number one concern is drainage. Working on a regional level on drainage, by installing retention ponds that not only hold water but help to clean the water on an ecological scale. This helps to clean the Petronila Creek and Oso Water sheds which are in the State's impaired waters list.

Ongoing re-grading ditches and developing ponds to help improve drainage in the rural communities. Ditches are crucial for managing water flow, preventing flooding, and protecting nearby properties.

Using grant funds, we have been able to do this and acquire land for a detention pond in Petronila and hope to do the same for the rural areas of Tierra Grande and Belk Lane in Bishop which helps reduce flooding in southern portions of Corpus Christi.
Using grant funds, I am currently working on colonia drainage and septic infrastructure projects in rural Nueces County to address deficient septic systems to improve residents’ quality of life and the ecosystem and restoration of bays and estuaries in the Coastal Bend.

Secondly, continue to lead Nueces County Operation Health & Wellness, a collaborative yearly event with our local community partners dedicated to providing medical, dental, optical and veterinary services for cats and dogs, at no cost to the public.

Thirdly, continue to be a driving force behind the Nueces County Colonia Coalition to help improve conditions in the rural and underserved neighborhoods of our community.

Any questions or concerns, please call or come visit.

I had the honor of serving the Citizens of Nueces County as District Attorney for almost seven years. I took great pride as being a voice and a leader implementing policies and procedures that were both smart and tough on crime. As I observe the current Commissioner's Court I can no longer sit by and remain silent. Part of being an elected official is being visible. Being accessible to the citizens you serve. Most citizens aren't aware who the County Commissioners are or what they do, and I intend to change that.
My strongest comepetency is my prior public service establishing relationships with all those involved with the county. I'm able to bring people together, whether it's elected officials, organizations or residents, to identify what's important and what's needed for a better Nueces. I'm also a practical person, I can listen to the problems of our constituents and come up with ways to solve them. My life experiences has grounded me in the challenges county governments face every day. I have firsthand experience with issues such as public services, infrastructure, and budgets or the lack of. In my role as an attorney I have represented people from all walks of life and understand that public officials should be fair and transparent.
There are many concerns expressed by residents. People want to feel safe. People want to able to work and provide for their families and the also want our tax dollars spent wisely. I plan on making sure our law enforcement officers have the tools and pay needed so that they can do the job they signed up for. I also plan to be a champion for the District Attorneys office making sure we provide a competitive salary that will not only bring lawyers but keep them, so that justice can be administered at the court house. I also intend to be creative in finding monies from grants to help accomplish this, so there is no cost to the tax payer. All the while, by keeping taxes down.
1) Fiscal Responsibility and Efficient Government I would make sure that in every decision we make we are transparent. There shouldn't be any conflicts of interest when an issue is presented. Government should be efficient and visible. Problems should be identified, addressed and resolved immediately. 2)Public Safety and Services More law enforcement is needed in the rural areas. I will support law enforcement, fire and emergency services and the maintenance and development of roads and infranscructer so residents can rely on prompt responses and dependable services. 3)Growth and Quality of Life I will work with community leaders to manage growth in a way that respects Nueces values while planning for the future without taxpayer burden.
Public safety, health care access and infrastructure are not partisan issues. They are community issues. Precinct 2 deserves a commissioner who will put the people before politics! As a former county employee, I know the needs of Nueces County Law Enforcement, District Attorneys’ Office, Health Care disparities between the socioeconomic disadvantaged and the socioeconomic fit, and the county’s infrastructure needs. My focus is..safer communities, healthier families and infrastructure that works for everyone in precinct 2.
Working in the public sector throughout my entire career, helped shape the person I am today. Helping others comes easy to me as I possess characteristics of strong empathy, compassion, deep commitment to public service, and focus on treating all individuals with respect and dignity. Going the extra mile is not for mediocre, but for extraordinary. I’d like to think that I was the latter in my line of work as a probation officer.
It’s been more like individual concerns such as the need for new septic tanks in the rural areas, a disparity in pay for law enforcement officers in the rural areas, provide prosecutors competitive pay with neighboring counties, lower health insurance premiums for employees.
My three top issues of concern are public safety, health care and infrastructure. I will seek federal, state, and or local grants for any and all issues of concern. With a majority consensus of the court, I plan to introduce policies to better serve our county. I will articulate and lead with moral clarity. All issues of my concern are not partisan, they are community issues that impact us all. Together we can move forward!
