What training, experience, and characteristics make you the best qualified candidate to be your party’s nominee for this office? [1,500 characters; approx. 300 words]

What are the two most pressing issues you will face in the office that you seek? Describe your specific plans/ideas for addressing these issues. [1,500 characters; approx. 300 words]

My education and training public health, work as a public servant in a local health department helped prepare me for working on public policy. My work during natural disasters as part of public health emergency preparedness has given me the knowledge and experience to work with multiple local, state, and federal agencies.

I also work on a family farm and homeschool my three children. Working in agriculture requires that I am familiar with market pressures, and with the regulations of multiple state and federal agencies. I am accustomed to hard work, odd hours, and putting the needs of those around me before myself.

My personal religious belief in following Jesus the Christ mean that I am commanded to serve others, to consider the people around me as more important than myself. I will work diligently to serve all the residents of the district equally.
The two most pressing issues facing people right now revolve around affordability with healthcare and the cost of living.

Regarding healthcare I have plans regarding reform of pharmacy benefit managers, decreasing profit motive among health insurance companies, getting rid of prior-authorization, and allowing Medicare to have direct negotiation of drug prices for all medications, medical devices, and procedures. These reforms will decrease healthcare costs from multiple directions making both healthcare and pharmaceuticals more affordable.

Regarding the cost of living there are several things that can be addressed by Congress. I have plans to reform the tariffs in place, as tariffs are given to Congress in the Constitution, not the Executive Branch. Tax credits should be available for childcare, low income housing, and there need to be reforms for predatory student loans.

Additionally I will actively seek to impose term limits on members of Congress.
