What is one thing you feel your school district does very well, and how do you plan to support that?
What is the most important thing you school district needs to improve, and what do you plan to do to change it?
One thing the Russellville School District does very well is build a strong school community—teachers and staff who genuinely care about students, families who stay engaged, and community partners who show up for kids through academics, activities, and career opportunities. You can see it in the pride around student achievements, the support for fine arts and athletics, and the momentum from schools being recognized for growth. That kind of culture doesn’t happen by accident. It’s created by people who believe in students and work together to help them succeed.
If elected, my role would be to protect and strengthen that foundation—because when morale, trust, and community ownership are strong, students benefit.
The most important thing our school district needs to improve is consistent academic growth—especially in early literacy and foundational math. Everything else we care about builds on that. If a student can read confidently and has strong number sense, they’re far more likely to succeed in every subject, stay engaged, and graduate prepared for whatever comes next.
Here’s what I would plan to do as a board member to help move that forward:
Make growth the north star, not just test scores.
I want the board and community looking at progress—how much students improve year over year—by grade and by school. That means clear, simple metrics: reading growth, math growth, attendance, and on-track indicators.
