One of the biggest challenges facing Greenacres is infrastructure strain and environmental risk, especially flooding and extreme weather. Like many South Florida communities, we are vulnerable to heat, heavy rain, and rising waters. Our priority must be resilient infrastructure, improving drainage, stormwater systems, and public spaces to withstand these impacts.
Our community is Greenacres’ greatest asset. By working together and staying involved, residents can shape a stronger, safer, and more inclusive city.
Property taxes are a primary source of revenue that fund essential services in Greenacres, including public safety, infrastructure maintenance, parks, and community programs. If taxes are reduced or eliminated, the city would face tough choices, such as scaling back these vital services or finding alternative revenue sources. In my view, the focus should be on responsible budgeting and creative solutions. This could include seeking state and federal grants, forming public-private partnerships, and improving efficiency in city operations to minimize waste. At the same time, any changes should be carefully planned to protect essential services that residents rely on every day.
Greenacres can save money by streamlining operations, reviewing contracts, and investing in technology to improve efficiency. Smart management ensures essential services like public safety, parks, and infrastructure remain strong while making the most of every taxpayer dollar
Greenacres is working to comply with House Bill 1365 while treating residents experiencing homelessness with dignity. We are coordinating with local partners to provide shelter, services, and outreach, while keeping public spaces safe and accessible for all.
