The role of a State Senator is to develop and enact act laws for the state of Arkansas, partnering with other legislators to build support around legislation that promotes the public good.
The public good is determined based on the lived experiences and needs of the constituents, which is the most important aspect of a Senator’s job: to listen to the constituents and to act based on their needs.
I am currently a graduate student at the University of Arkansas, studying Business and Public Service. On a daily basis, I am learning the technical and theoretical skills to effectively manage large-scale organizations and public service institutions. Before starting at UA, I owned and operated a theater production company and youth theater, which provided hands-on experience in the difficult work of management and collaboration.
My background in music and theater provides a unique insight that centers around empathy, collaboration, and storytelling - all of which are essential to be an effective legislator.
My platform focuses on education, job, healthcare, and the economy. Students must have stability at home to be successful in their school work. Schools must have the resources needed to effectively and wholly serve each student. All individuals should have access to healthcare. The economy should focus on building up the individuals at the bottom as much as possible.
By focusing on those four areas, my goal is to bring stability to Arkansan household. And my hope is that stability will allow all Arkansans to do more than just “get by.”
