Describe the first thing you plan to change/improve when you take office and how you will accomplish that goal.
The duties of the office of State Senator are as follows:
1. Create and pass legislation that is beneficial to the constituents of Senate District 15 and the state.
2. Understand the state budgetary process and dispose of the budget by proposing appropriations beneficial to my constituents and the people of the state of Arkansas.
3. Work with local government to ensure state agencies are providing services for the constituents of Senate District 15
I am a seasoned public health leader with more than 25 years of experience in health promotion, education, and leadership. My life story reflects is an unwavering commitment to helping others overcome barriers to opportunity. I served as Arkansas Minority Health Director for five years under the Hutchinson Administration, and the legislature. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I led the state’s minority community response that ensure communities received PPE, Testing, and life-saving vaccines. I served as President on the AR Foodbank Board during the 2025 Federal Government Shutdown, and I led the board response to increase food access for families. Among other roles, I have served School Health Director and AR Literacy Councils President.
While it is difficult to narrow it down to one thing, my plan is to ensure mother’s have 12-month postpartum care. I plan to introduce legislation that would mandate Medicaid and. l insurance providers provide this essential care for mothers. Healthy mothers mean healthy babies and families.
