State Representative, District 46
My primary duty is to represent all of the people of district 46. Composed of several small towns and a primarily rural area, district 46 requires a representative that understands the problems of small communities and how to work with the state legislature to improve the life of our residents.
The major problems facing this area are lack of jobs. high levels of poverty, and a decrease in population. The four focus areas will be: Education and saving our small schools, funding for Sr. Citizen centers, work-force education, and term-limits.
It is difficult to attract large industries to our area. One of my mayor focus will be to look at attracting several smaller companies that might employ 25-to 40 employees but be a part of the area.
I was born and raised in this area but traveled extensively as a migrant child while young. I know poverty, I know and have seen ways to escape that cycle. My father established a business of his own by the time I reached my teen years; local schools then provided the incentive and background for me to achieve life-time goals. I worked my way through college at ATU and graduated with honors (while married). I taught at Paris schools for 20 years, obtaining a masters and a specialist degree. During the summer, I was employed at every job from a line worker at the local chicken factory to a chemical engineer at Arkansas Nuclear one. In 1999, I entered the U/A and obtained a PhD in Geology. I know this area and can represent the people.
Above are listed my four primary goals. I know how to write my own proposals and will not have to rely on lobbyists to tell me what to write and how. I am willing to work with any group or any party and collaborate to achieve goals. I know some of the legislators and have already reached out to them to form cohorts which will work together to pass legislation that will help our mutual communities.
Poverty has resulted in high drug use and legal problems in our rural communities.
I think we need to look at rehabilitation of people with drug and minor misdemeanors and try to get them back as effective and functioning citizens. I want to work with our local law enforcement, churches, and businesses to make this possible.

A State Representative writes laws, votes on the state budget, serves on committees, and most importantly represents the people of their district in Little Rock.
It’s about listening to constituents, solving problems, and making sure rural communities, farmers, seniors, and small businesses have a voice in state government.
Growing up on a farm taught me the value of hard work, responsibility, and showing up when the job needs to be done. My career in the insurance industry has taught me how to listen, solve problems, and help people through some of the most difficult moments in their lives.
As an insurance agent and marketing representative, I work daily with farmers, families, small as well as large businesses — the very people I want to represent. These experiences have prepared me to serve District 46 with practical knowledge, strong work ethic, and a commitment to being your voice in Little Rock.
The first thing I plan to focus on when I take office is protecting and strengthening rural communities — especially our farmers, seniors, and small towns — by improving transparency and accountability in state government while ensuring policies actually work for District 46.
I will accomplish this by listening first — continuing to meet with local farmers, small-business owners, senior-center leaders, volunteer firefighters, and community organizations to understand their needs before supporting or introducing legislation. I will work with legislators from both rural and urban districts to build coalitions around practical solutions, such as protecting agriculture, supporting senior programs, and ensuring responsible spending of taxpayer
