I am currently serving my sixth term in the Texas House of Representatives. I serve as Vice Chair of the House Committee on Transportation, as a member of the House Committee on Licensing and Administrative Procedures, and as a member of the Permanent Standing Subcommittee on Transportation Funding. I was first elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 2012. Before serving as a State Representative, I was the Chairwoman of the Houston Community College Board of Trustees.
Consumer protection is a priority. During the 86th, 87th, 88th, and 89th Sessions, I championed legislation to address card skimming at gas pumps and financial fraud. HB 2106 (87R) established the Financial Crimes Intelligence Center, which helps coordinate law enforcement efforts to better combat organized financial crimes. I am committed to further strengthening our efforts to safeguard Texans. Transportation safety and infrastructure improvement are priorities. Strong infrastructure is essential to economic growth, public safety, and quality of life. Specific to HD 144, I focus on balancing motorist safety with transportation initiatives that improve access around the Port and support our region’s role as a key economic engine for Texas.
