I come from a background of working in public service. I began my career through the Texas Legislative Internship Program, fielding constituent calls in a city council office. I went on to work for Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee and Rep. Gene Green. I then decided to run for office, knocking on doors and making calls 12 hours a day, seven days a week. After becoming the State Rep. for HD 140, I went back to school to achieve my law degree from the University of Houston, and am now able to leverage my expertise of the law in the State House. But most importantly, I am a member of this community — I was born and raised here, my family lives here, and my kids are growing up here just like I did.
In the Legislature, I have led efforts to combat food insecurity by providing free breakfast and lunch for any student eligible and securing funding for a new state-of-the-art food bank in House District 140. Next Session, I will continue to fight for the expansion of the federal Summer EBT program to help Texas families keep food on the table.

Given the unincorporated portion of the district and the lack of zoning laws in Harris County, HD 140 is a popular location for concrete batch plants and other industrial businesses. I consistently work on legislation that would add protections for residents by increasing air pollution monitoring and restricting where these facilities are permitted to operate.
