I bring decades of public service experience, including serving as City Controller, Harris County Commissioner, Texas State Senator, and as a Member of Congress. I am a former judge and attorney with deep knowledge of public budgeting, law, and government accountability. My experience allows me to effectively advocate for my constituents and deliver tangible results.

The two most pressing issues I will face are protecting democracy and voting rights and ensuring economic security. Safeguarding the right to vote and maintaining trust in our democratic institutions is fundamental. I will continue to support legislation that expands access to the ballot, combats voter suppression, and strengthens transparency and accountability in government. At the same time, families are struggling with rising housing, health care, and everyday costs. I will work to expand access to affordable housing and health care, protect Social Security and Medicare, and promote fair wages and consumer protections. My focus is responsible, results-driven governance that strengthens democracy and improves quality of life.

I bring nearly two decades of public service, legislative experience, & community leadership to this role. I served as a Houston City Council Member & Texas State Representative, representing communities that make up 90% of the NEW District 29. I have passed legislation, secured funding for infrastructure, housing, & public safety, & worked across government to deliver results. As a small business owner, I understand the challenges facing working families & job creators. I am known as a steady, accessible leader who listens, builds coalitions, & fights for everyday people. That experience prepares me to serve effectively on day one.

Access to Healthcare: I will expand access & lower costs by expanding Medicaid to cover working families, postpartum mothers & uninsured seniors. I will protect reproductive healthcare & ensure medical decisions are made by patients & doctors, not politicians. I support allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices & cap out-of-pocket costs.

Public Education: I will strengthen public education by increasing federal investment in high-need districts like District 29, fully funding Title I & expanding special & bilingual education. I will support vocational & trade education through career & technical programs, partnerships with community colleges & labor unions, & workforce training that leads to good-paying jobs.

I am qualified for this position through a combination of executive leadership experience, community organizing, and deeply personal lived experience that shapes my passion for public service. I have led multi-million-dollar organizations, managed complex budgets, and built teams that deliver measurable results. As a founder and board member of multiple civic and community organizations, I have organized coalitions, developed leaders, and advanced initiatives in voter engagement, workforce development, and social justice.

My commitment is personal. My mother’s ongoing health challenges forced our family to navigate a broken healthcare system, and she now lives with me because of gaps in care and support.

I am qualified for this position through a combination of professional leadership, community organizing, policy experience, and—most importantly—deeply personal lived experience that shapes how I lead, what I prioritize, and why I am committed to public service. I do not approach this work as an observer of policy debates; I approach it as someone who lives with the consequences of policy decisions every day.

Professionally, I am an experienced executive and entrepreneur who has led multi-million-dollar organizations, managed complex budgets, and overseen large, diverse teams. I understand how to build systems, set strategy, measure performance, and deliver results under pressure.
