Over their four-year term, a county sheriff is responsible for:Serving as county tax collector in counties where a separate position doesn't exist.Executing court summons, enforcing judgments, orders, injunctions, garnishments, serving evictions, and making arrests on warrants issued by the courts.Preserving the peace, preventing/detecting/investigating criminal activity, control of crowds at public events, control of traffic at accidents, protecting property during emergencies. Custody of the county jail and the people incarcerated within it. This includes providing food and health care to people in jail as they wait for bond or the outcome of their court case. As Sheriff, my primary duty is to protect the lives, property, and constitutional rights of the citizens of Poinsett County. This responsibility goes far beyond enforcement—it includes leadership, accountability, and service. The Sheriff oversees all operations of the Sheriff’s Office, including patrol, criminal investigations, jail operations, court security, civil process, emergency communications, and coordination with local, state, and federal partners.
This office must balance public safety with compassion, enforce the law while respecting due process, and work proactively with the community to prevent crime—not just respond to it. Ultimately, the duty of the Sheriff is to ensure Poinsett County remains a safe place to live.
I bring more than 31 years of law-enforcement experience, including over 23 years in administrative and leadership roles. I began my career as a jailer and advanced through patrol deputy, sergeant, investigator, police academy instructor, chief deputy, and Sheriff, giving me firsthand knowledge of how each division operates and how leadership decisions affect personnel and the public.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Criminology, an Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice, and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice. I am a graduate of the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy and hold the Senior Certificate, the highest law-enforcement certification in Arkansas. I remain committed to serving as Sheriff
My first priority is to continue strengthening communication, training, and accountability within the Sheriff’s Office while expanding proactive crime prevention in the community. Public safety is strongest when deputies are well-trained, supported, and equipped—and when citizens trust their Sheriff’s Office.
We have already made significant progress through initiatives such as creating a Criminal Investigation Division, improving 911 and radio systems, expanding jail capacity without raising taxes, and partnering with community organizations for inmate education and work programs. My goal is to build on these successes. continue leading Poinsett County forward as a safe, stable place to live and raise a family.
