The County Clerk’s Office includes three divisions – Records, Courts and Commissioners Court – all led by the elected County Clerk. The staff provides a number of services for the residents of Hays County, including the recording and maintenance of all Commissioners Court minutes, Official Public Records, and County Court Records.The County Clerk is the historian of the county, responsible for archiving the county’s most important records. Our Records Division maintains birth, death, and marriage records; property records such as deeds and liens; and business records including assumed name certificates and cattle brands. The Courts Division provides support to the County Courts at Law, organizing and managing juries and assisting the judges in their courtrooms and otherwise, supporting probate and guardianship services, and assisting the Mental Health and Veterans specialty courts. The Commissioners Court Division serves as archivist of the Commissioners Court, managing streaming services, providing support during court, and maintaining records of court proceedings, including videos.
I have served as Assistant County Clerk for over four years, managing operations, budgets, compliance, records, courts, and staff. Prior to my service in Hays County, I completed a 30-year U.S. Army career, retiring as a Colonel. I completed extensive executive-level leadership training and led organizations nationwide and overseas, requiring expertise in strategic planning, complex operations, logistics, finance, personnel, compliance, and communication. I am fully prepared to lead the County Clerk’s Office on day one.
The most important responsibility of a County Clerk is to serve as the guardian and administrator of the public record while ensuring transparent, accurate, and accessible services to the community. This encompasses managing vital records, property filings, and court documents, all while maintaining compliance with state laws and safeguarding public trust. In short, the County Clerk ensures accuracy, integrity, and accountability in all official records and interactions with the public, which is essential for the proper functioning of local government and the protection of residents' rights.

Knowledgeable in of rules and statutes that effect the County Clerk's Office.

My priorities as County Clerk are to build on the office’s solid foundation, modernize records management for greater accuracy, efficiency, and accessibility, and invest in people by creating internships for Texas State students and encouraging staff cross-training, so they can grow skills, work collaboratively, and provide the best possible service to all Hays County residents.
