State Representative, District 15
The Texas House of Representatives is one of two chambers that make up the Texas Legislature. The representative is one of 150 representatives from separate districts across the state. Working with the Texas Senate, the Texas House considers proposed laws and resolutions, considers proposed constitutional amendments for submission to the voters, appropriates all funds for the operation of state government, and periodically redraws federal and state congressional maps. All bills for raising revenue considered by the legislature must originate in the House of Representatives. The House alone can bring impeachment charges against a statewide officer, which charges must be tried by the Senate. Current annual salary: $7,200, plus $221 for every day the Legislature is in session, including any special sessions. Term: Two (2) years
