For the past four years, I have represented the 4th Ward on the Common Council. I routinely collaborate with members of both parties, notably being the most bipartisan on the Council. After Siena College I joined the Rensselaer County Economic Development and Planning Office, applying for grants and gaining the expertise needed to develop the City of Rensselaer. I am also a member of the City of Rensselaer Industrial Development Agency, which supports various city projects. I have been an outspoken supporter of the development of Barnet Mills, as well as other revitalization projects throughout the city.
One of the largest issues for the City is finances. Rensselaer has been behind on Financial Audits stretching back to 2016. Without these audits, the City cannot bond, which means we cannot purchase much needed equipment for city departments such as our DPW and Fire Department. These departments have been without updated equipment for some time — the DPW relies on several 20+ year old vehicles.

It is also important to support infrastructure projects for the City. Many of our streets and sidewalks are in desperate need of repair. Over the last four years, many 4th Ward streets and sidewalks have been replaced, notably Washington Ave, Third Street, & Forbes Ave. However, we also need to address the infrastructure that isn’t seen, such as the water and sewer lines. The City recently replaced the Pump Station that feeds Rensselaer all of its water from Troy. This was around a $5 million dollar investment between Rensselaer and East Greenbush, ensuring reliable water for the future.
