I have been a member of city council for 6yrs now and have been various board throughout, My love for the City of Manistee runs deep. This isn’t just where I live , it’s where I’ve raised my son, and it’s the place I want him to be proud to always call his hometown. Manistee is special. From the lakefront and riverwalk to our historic downtown and close-knit neighborhoods, we have a city with unmatched beauty and a strong sense of community. I believe our city is at a turning point. We can continue down the path of “old school” thinking doing things the way they’ve always been done, or we can embrace innovation and growth. Respecting tradition is important, but it should never hold us back from realizing our full potential.
1. Protecting the identity of our community while making sure residents and visitors alike experience the unique charm that sets Manistee apart. We should strive to be the type of city that everyone should be excited to visit and ecstatic to live here. Which mean attracting new small businesses, retaining the business’s we already have, Protecting our waterways, cleaning up blighted neighborhoods, I could go on and on 2. One of the issues closest to my heart is the need for senior housing . In my career, I see firsthand how many seniors are ready to downsize with less maintenance, more convenience, where they can continue to live independently. This is not a housing issue it’s a community issue. We need to look at our zoning, work together with developers and using state and federal funding. reducing unnecessary red tape, modernizing zoning where needed, and making sure entrepreneurs feel supported
