My career was a science educator, both high school and college. The ability to thrive in that career means that you can adapt and work in a variety of environments. One must be able to work together on committees and explore possible solutions without prior prejudice in order to flourish. My specific skills are a quick ability to understand any topic. I am creative with ideas, and flexible for implementation. I approach each problem with a fresh perspective so I may find the best outcome. As a scientist, I am empirically driven: show me the numbers and tell me how this benefits the most people/businesses.
The first real issue is to create an environment within the committee to work together in a functional manner. The issues our city faces are typical of any city. We are dealing with infrastructure (roads and maintenance) and spending liabilities.
The overused word is transparency, but it is the most important. The city website and my candidate social media will be used to transmit the factual data. Also, being available at times to answer any questions will be important.
