Candidate Information Chris Nance for Mayor of North Muskegon "Elect a Fresh Perspective"
I'm eager to help NM remain a safe place to raise a family and enjoy life.

My family was very active in NM when I was growing up. Dad was a City Council member and Mom was a local gift-shop partner and community volunteer.

I graduated from NMPS and earned a master's degree from MSU. Then I worked for international PR firms, state trade associations, a state legislature, a state governor, and The White House.

After chasing my career around the US, I returned home with my wife and son to live year-round in NM. Our son is now thriving as a NMHS student and athlete.

Previous leaders have worked hard to care for our city. I'm uniquely qualified to help build upon their successes.

It’s time to elect a new mayor with a fresh perspective.

1) Bring home more federal/state tax dollars to boost our city budget; 2) Promote NMPS as city's most important asset; and 3) Deliver city services within a totally transparent budget. As Mayor of NM, I will focus more specifically on: a) Working closely with federal and state lawmakers to earn grant dollars. b) Partnering with NMPS to earn annual Top-10 statewide rankings. c) Effectively communicating how NM is spending our tax dollars. d) Guarding city police/fire/emergency services to help keep our community safe. e) Developing more walkable shops, activities, and family traditions. f) Prioritizing road/property maintenance, leaf pick-up, sidewalk plowing. g) Promoting incentives for homeowners/businesses to come, stay, and prosper.
City residents will see me reach out to every household before election day to ensure everyone has a chance to say what they like most about NM, like least about NM, and what they think should be NM's top priorities.

I will attend all committee meetings and offer weekly, year-round office hours for people to share ideas and concerns about both good and not-so-good things happening around our city.

On behalf of city residents, I'll be also meeting with other mayors in our region to know how we can be effectively and necessarily coordinating NM outreach efforts with state and federal lawmakers and regulators.

City staff can be assured they'll have full support from their mayor for all the important work they do on behalf of city residents.
